Citywide Surveying Project
   Aug 16, 2016
The City of Williston would like residents to be aware of a phase for a citywide surveying project that will begin on August 24th, and is expected to wrap up in late November. During the three month project, surveyors will occasionally need to go onto residents’ lawns or the corners of their property for surveying purposes. The company hired by the City of Williston, AE2S, will have surveyors collecting information about the location of water curb stops using GPS and metal detectors. AE2S surveyors always wear bright shirts emblazoned with the AE2S logo, to identify themselves. “We want to make sure everyone is aware of this project, and so no one is caught off guard by seeing a surveyor on their property,” says David Tuan, Williston Public Works Director. The information gathered through the surveying process will allow the City’s geographic information systems (GIS) to be converted to the state plane coordinate system. “The new system will benefit the city in many ways, including streamlining data integration. However, the benefit that residents may notice is the increased GPS accuracy capabilities in the outer parts of town,” says Tuan. If you have questions about the surveying project, contact the Williston Public Works Department at (701) 577-6368.

Compost Containers
   Mar 24, 2016
Compost containers are placed at the following locations: 1. Rickard School-14th Street East and 2nd Avenue 2. Corner of 5th Street East and 8th Avenue East 3. Western Star Ball Complex-19th Avenue West and 15th Street Containers are for grass clippings and leaves only. Please do not mix tree limbs, bags or household waste with compost. Compost containers that get contaminated with these items require that the load be buried in the landfill and defeats the purpose of the containers.
