Contesting a Ticket/Posting Bond

Posting Bond

If you wish to plead guilty to your traffic citation, you do not need to appear in court.  The ticket amount must be paid by mailing a check or money order, paying by phone with a credit card (plus a $3 processing fee) or in person at the Williston Municipal Court Office, Mon-Fri, 8-5pm.  After hours, weekends and holidays the citation may be paid at the Williston Police Department.  This payment must be made within 14 days of your citation or by the set court date.

If you are unable to pay the ticket in full, you must contact the Williston Municipal Court Office prior to your court date or 14 days from the issuance of the citation, to set up a monthly payment schedule.

If you ARE wishing to plead not guilty to a non-criminal citation, you need to complete one of the following steps:
  • Appear in Williston Municipal Court on the court date listed on your citation.
  •        Appear in Williston Municipal Court prior to the court date listed on your citation or within 14 days.
  •        Sign the citation in the bottom right corner and submit it to the Williston Municipal Court with the appropriate bond amount (the cost of the ticket).  The bond amount must be paid in full and this request must be made within 14 days of the citation. The court will then contact you with the next step within 30 days.

***Failure to complete one of the above steps may result in your driving privileges being suspended by the North Dakota Driver's License and Traffic Safety Division or by the licensing agency in the state you are licensed out of.
