The Williston STAR Fund Advisory Board has elected a new member and chairman.
Williston native Dana Johnson was selected as the new member at its Aug. 7 meeting. Johnson is the owner of Little Muddy Gifts in Downtown Williston. She replaces Leah Johnson Ellis, who completed her two three-year terms this summer. Her first meeting was Sept. 5.
The STAR Fund board elected Rob Shannon as its incoming chair, replacing outgoing Johnson Ellis. Shannon began his new duties at the Sept. 5 meeting.
The STAR Fund Advisory Board oversees up to twenty-five percent of the one cent city sales tax which is dedicated to jobs creation and community development. The STAR Fund provides low interest loans for new and existing businesses, grants geared to startups, incentive funding for existing and new child care facilities and grants for projects that enhance the quality of life in Williston.
The STAR Fund is governed by a seven member board of directors. The other board members include Brad Bekkedahl, Brad Curtis, Howard Klug, Nick Lee and Brock Romine.
The STAR Fund Advisory Board meets the second Tuesday of every month at 11:30 a.m. at the Center for Development. Applications may be obtained online or at the Center for Development.
