United Airlines has announced it will add another flight between Williston and Denver beginning Jan. 7, 2019. The airline’s fourth flight will arrive in Williston at 10:50 a.m. and depart for Denver at 12:15 p.m.
Williston Airport Director Anthony Dudas said the new flight will increase opportunities and provide more flexibility for air travelers.
"Travelers will have more options for getting to and from Williston connecting through Denver" said Dudas.
Enplanements at Sloulin Field International Airport have risen more than seven percent in 2018 compared to last year. As of Aug. 31, the airport reported 48,283 enplanements compared to 44,972 in 2017. Dudas said he is pleased United is responding to the increase in activity in the Williston Basin.
"Any capacity increase is something we are hoping to continue moving forward. The commercial aircraft flying out of the Williston Airport are very full. We want to make sure we are catering to our customers and ensuring the air carriers are educated on our community’s needs," Dudas said.
Meanwhile, the Williston Airport is wrapping up its runway patch repair project which will allow larger aircraft to temporarily serve Williston. This will allow air carriers the flexibility to provide greater service and more capacity to the Williston region until the new Williston Basin International Airport commences operations.
The new Williston Basin International Airport is projected to open in the fall of 2019.
