CVB Honors Tourism Leaders at Annual Meeting

Williston, N.D. – The Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) announced seven local tourism awards and offered an update on tourism in North Dakota at its Annual Meeting on July 10, 2018.

After a welcome by the CVB Board President and Williston Mayor Howard Klug, CVB executive director Amy Krueger offered information about the department staff, how the CVB is funded, key events the CVB produces in Williston and changes the organization has embraced over the last year.

The CVB also honored a number of organizations and individuals for their exemplary efforts to make Williston a great destination and promoting it through their words and actions. These included:

Lewis & Clark State Park for Attraction of the Year. Park staff has worked hard to secure funding and partnerships to expand their camping facilities, add equipment and services such as kayak and paddleboard rentals. The park is an excellent partner and venue for new events, including trail runs and fishing tournaments.

Bakken Oil Product & Service Show (BOPSS) for Event of the Year. The 8th Annual BOPSS is around the corner. Annually, this show hosts hundreds of exhibitors and attendees, and offers a premium opportunity for showcasing what is new and innovative in the Bakken.

Miss North Dakota Scholarship Organization for Tourism Organization of the Year. The organization has been recognizing potential, rewarding achievement and promoting women throughout North Dakota for the last 32 years, and is an outstanding partner in promoting Williston throughout the state, region and nation!

Airport Director Anthony Dudas for Tourism Champion. Anthony manages the existing airport but also oversees the new airport construction project, directs the transition from the existing airport to the new airport, continuously works to build relationships with commercial and general aviation stakeholders, promotes Williston as a destination for future visitors and users, and is building his team to run the new airport.

Anna Morgan with Holiday Inn Express for Tourism Employee of the Year and Michelle Thrasher with Candlewood Suites for Tourism Leader of the Year for their consistent and outstanding service with guests and partners in the tourism industry.
