Leadership Williston Project brings
Ice Skate Rentals to Raymond Center
A Leadership Williston program is making it easier for families to give a popular winter sport a try a try. Ashley Krasicki started an ice skating rental business this winter to attract more people to the Pete Conlin Area.
“When deciding to participate in the Leadership Williston program, I knew I wanted my project to bring skate rentals to the community,” said Krasicki, Recreation Director at Williston Parks and Recreation District. “Parents no longer have to purchase expensive skates in order to enjoy this activity.”
Ice skates are available at the Raymond Family Community Center for just $2 plus admission. Krasicki.collaborated with her employer (WPRD), the WPRD Foundation and Williston State College Men’s Hockey to bring the program to fruition. The partnership allowed her to purchase 79 new hockey and figure skates. She also accepts gently used ice skates to beef up the inventory.
“I selected the program due to the void of skate rentals. I’ve worked Tyke Skate and Learn to Skate for the WPRD for the past 6 years so I have received a lot of questions about skate rentals in the community,” she explained.
Leadership Williston is coordinated by the Williston Area Chamber of Commerce “to train and empower Williston’s future leaders.” Krasicki said she has been pleased with the response to her field project as more people are using the ice arena and getting interested in the pastime.
“This activity is becoming a social opportunity for many. With long winters and limited indoor activities, ice skating is another option where people can interact, have fun and get some exercise during the cold months,” said Krasicki.
Our open skate times are generally Tuesday from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Hours may vary due to hockey games. To stay up-to-date click on the open skate schedule on the www.willistonparks.com website.
