Slater's opens in Former No Place Bar

The No Place Bar has new owners. Effective October 31, 2019, siblings Jon Slater and Cindy Slater, purchased the bar in Downtown Williston. The establishment has been renamed Slater’s and will be known for its live entertainment.

“We’ll bring in a variety of live music and karaoke,” said Cindy Slater.

The Slater’s have been busy getting the bar ready for performers; purchasing a new stage and improving the sound system.

“We will have a portable stage for different types of entertainment.  We will be able to set it up in various sizes and store it when it is not in use,” said Jon Slater.

The siblings say music is in their blood and that they wanted to offer a special place for performers.

“We all love to sing (two sisters, one brother and dad). That’s kind of our family thing,” said Cindy Slater. “We were raised with music and we wanted a good spot to have music in Williston.”

Besides offering more live entertainment, Slater’s will feature a larger menu, more dance space and extra seating. The club will be open weekdays from 3 p.m. until 1 a.m. and weekends from 12 p.m. until 1 a.m.

“We kept the staff on that was with The No Place and we will add more staff as it’s needed,” said Cindy Slater.

The co-owners utilized the Bank of North Dakota/Williston STAR Fund program called the Flex PACE interest buydown to purchase the bar. The program allows borrowers to buydown the interest on their commercial loan. The Williston City Commission approved up to $25,000 from the STAR Fund on Tuesday, November 12 for the $300,000 project.

“It helps because they (SBDC/WED) give you the freedom to do what you want with it; put it towards your loan or use it for bills and expenses,” Cindy Slater said.

Cindy believes the future is bright for the new night spot.

“As we go along and grow, we will do some bigger things,” she said.

Slater’s is located at 7 South Main Street in Downtown Williston.
